There was a sense of destiny in 2007 as we assumed our proprietorship of The Tillotsons and took up the hammer of our landlord’s great-grandfather – the original owner of the pub way back in 1836.
Now, we are pleased to offer a selection of never less than four real ales on tap, which we rotate regularly to maintain only the best standards. Delicious home-cooked meals and in particular our gammon, steak and lamb are on the menu along with some very tasty selections for vegetarian diets and younger appetites.
Despite the cosiness of a bar that features a turf-burning open fire, we command a lively atmosphere, with:

The exterior of The Tillotsons is equally attractive. Situated in “an area of outstanding natural beauty,” we have taken advantage of this fact with the addition of outdoor seating to the front of the pub to allow visitors the opportunity to enjoy the views. The Tillotsons is ideal for small functions: birthdays, christenings, parties and funerals.
Chipping itself is hugely popular with tourists, walkers, ramblers, fell runners...and gliding clubs.
